How cruel it is – life’s so unfair to cheat a son of such a gift, a gift that every child should know: a Daddy, gentle, sweet and there.
A Daddy who, faced with fear, yet dared, dared to love his child with everything he had, to hold his hand, stroke his head and pray to God that he’d be spared.
When the time came that his breath would not remain, his Daddy protected him, loved him, cried, screamed, denied, prayer for a miracle of life.
When no miracle came, he lovingly released him from the pain.
Sometimes the Daddy’s eyes are somewhere far away, he’s far away where Lucas is.
He see’s his face, his skin, his hands, and hold his gift. He knows it will again be open when they meet at Heaven’s Gate someday.
